Cisco Network Deployment

By the NexusSec engineering team · 7 min read · Updated July 2026
NexusSec designs and deploys Cisco routing, switching and security infrastructure for enterprises across India — including OSPF and BGP routing, VLAN architecture, HSRP/VRRP redundancy, and Cisco Secure Firewall. Cisco remains the strongest choice where you are already standardised on it and need deep integration across the network.

Where Cisco fits

Cisco's advantage is coherence at scale. Where an estate is already Cisco end to end, deep integration across switching, routing, identity (ISE) and security streamlines operations in ways mixed-vendor environments cannot match. Talos threat intelligence is among the largest in the industry.

For organisations without an existing Cisco commitment, other platforms often deliver better value — and we deploy those too, so our recommendation is not vendor-driven.

What we deploy

AreaWhat we do
SwitchingAccess and distribution design, VLAN architecture, spanning-tree, port security
RoutingOSPF and BGP design, route filtering, summarisation, policy routing
RedundancyHSRP/VRRP gateway redundancy, link aggregation, resilient uplinks
SegmentationVLAN and inter-VLAN policy — see segmentation
Secure FirewallDeployment, policy, management centre configuration
WirelessController and access point deployment with segregated SSIDs
HardeningManagement plane protection, AAA, disabling legacy protocols, configuration backup

High availability by design

Most of our Cisco work is resilience-driven. A network that stops when one device fails is not an acceptable design for a business dependent on connectivity. We build redundant gateways with HSRP or VRRP, dual uplinks with aggregation, and routing designed so failover is automatic and predictable — then we test it by deliberately failing components before go-live, because untested redundancy is an assumption rather than a control.

A frequent finding when we audit inherited Cisco estates: management-plane exposure. Telnet still enabled, SNMP with default community strings, no AAA, and configurations not backed up. The routing may be elegant while the devices themselves are trivially attackable.

Documentation matters

We deliver accurate topology diagrams, addressing schemes, VLAN allocations and configuration backups. Undocumented networks become progressively unmaintainable, and in our assessment work an out-of-date diagram is one of the most reliable predictors of avoidable outages.

Frequently asked questions

Do you deploy Cisco networks?

Yes. NexusSec designs and deploys Cisco routing, switching, wireless and Cisco Secure Firewall for enterprises across Navi Mumbai, Mumbai and India, including OSPF and BGP routing, VLAN architecture and HSRP/VRRP redundancy.

Is Cisco worth the premium?

It depends on your situation. Where your estate is already standardised on Cisco, the integration across switching, routing, identity and security genuinely streamlines operations. For organisations without that existing commitment, platforms such as Fortinet, MikroTik or Aruba often deliver better value, and we deploy those as well.

What are HSRP and VRRP?

Both are gateway redundancy protocols. They allow two or more routers to share a virtual gateway address, so if the active device fails the standby takes over automatically without clients needing reconfiguration. HSRP is Cisco proprietary; VRRP is an open standard supported across vendors.

Can you audit our existing Cisco network?

Yes. We review configuration, routing design, segmentation, redundancy and management-plane security, then provide a prioritised improvement plan. Common findings include exposed management protocols, default SNMP community strings, missing AAA and unbacked-up configurations.

Do you provide network documentation?

Yes, as standard. Every deployment includes topology diagrams, addressing schemes, VLAN allocations and configuration backups. Accurate documentation materially reduces both troubleshooting time and the risk of avoidable outages during change.
